At school the teacher keeps track of the number of books that each student reads from their own comprehension level or higher. My son's best friend is in second place our of about 24 students, right behind him. My daughter would place in the top third of that list.

I wonder if the large number of books in our house has anything to do with their interest?

When my children were young we used to read to them every day. I intentionally misread the books after a while and they would chime in "that's not right" and then repeat what the passage should have been. It kept them alert and interested.
