The coal plants should all have scrubbers and Electrostatic Precipitators on them and whatever other Best Available Technologies are. If the land in NC is damaged it is likely from acid rain. Technology exists to prevent this. The ultimate clean coal technology is gasification before combustion. With this technology the combustion fuel is a clean gas. The ability to clean the gas ahead of combustion is much better than that of cleaning the solid. Bob
