>>> Then why did Rummy say it would be over in 6 months, max?
He was wrong. But in fairness, I believe he was talking about the Iraq war to remove Saddam, not the following insurgency. Still, he clearly didn't anticipate the mess.
Look, you don't walk away from a war because it was harder than you thought it would be. If that was our policy, Germany and Japan would own us today. You commit to it and you do what is necessary to win it.
I can appreciate a person being opposed to the war. But once you are committed to it, you win it -- and frankly, anything other than total support for it, IMO, is treason. This Harry Reid nonsense -- "We support the troops, but we've lost the war" -- the man ought to be imprisoned the remark as having provided aid and comfort to the enemy. Same with Ted's representative and Bonier.
Especially with an army, when "the enemy" are spread thinly across the globe.
Well, this is troubling -- but frankly, it is because collective America doesn't value its freedom highly enough to raise its children to be soldiers. We should take a lesson from Israel. |
