Liberals don't criticize America for the sake of making things better, they condemn America for the sake of justifying their hatred and disgust.
Take Abu Ghraib, for example. Everyone agrees the abuse of the prisoners was bad. Hell, we found out about the Abu Ghraib abuses because the Army investigated the wrong-doing and punished those responsible. We ought to be proud we have an army that cleaned up the Abu Ghraib mess on its own. Neither the press or Congress forced them too. They didn't even find out about it till after the fact. For liberals though, Abu Ghraib was just a great excuse to depict America as the moral equal of Saddam (see Ted Kennedy), which we aren't. Why the overkill? Why make a "legend" worse than the reality. That's not criticism, its condemnation - complete and total.
Take Murat Kurnaz for another example. He tells a lame story of going to the Pakistani-Afghan border 3 weeks after 911 to get religious instruction, not even knowing there was any conflict with America going on and you liberals PRETEND to believe this. You dismiss evidence like his fearful mother running to the German police and saying he's been brainwashed by radicals and gone off to fight, like his traveling to Pakistan on a ticket paid for by a guy with connections to AQ, and like planning to travel there with a known recruiter. I say you PRETEND to believe Kurnaz's lame story because no one with any intelligence would buy his story. There's no reason to go to the Pakistani-Afghan border outback to learn about Islam. He could have stayed in Germany and done that. There are no shrines there. No famous schools. Its the most backward part of the Muslim world. Believing Kurnaz's story is equivalent to believing OJ just happened to cut his finger with a glass goblet the same night his exwife was killed. Frankly, Kurnaz's story is even weaker than OJ's. If you want to be lenient toward Kurnaz for some reason, you could argue, okay, he was on his way to fight for the Taliban and AQ against America, but he was caught before he got to the battlefield and maybe he's gotten over his radicalism now. But that's not good enough. He has to be presented as a nice little harmless victim of the evil US military.
Because ultimately, for liberals its not about Kurnaz or what he is guilty of or innocent of. Its not about the Abu Ghraib prisoners and how badly they were or weren't treated. For liberals, its about depicting America as evil as possible to justify the feelings of hatred and disgust they feel.
And I don't see how you can deny you feel this disgust I'm talking about. You're the guy who argued that military enlistees shouldn't be allowed to attend regular universities. As if they're some danger or unclean or something for serving their country. Liberals pretend to care about the troops and veterans, but they can only do so if they pretend they are stupid dupes who were fooled or forced by extreme poverty into enlisting. You should feel proud of them instead of feeling fake sympathy for being so dumb or so poor. The young people who enlist in the military today are our best. We're blessed to have people like them in our country. |
