Keith,

Normally a PE higher than the growth rate would mean something. However, the PE of this company is inflated at the moment due to a one time gain from the sale of their Enterprise Networking Business Unit in the 4th quarter (ending in 2/96). However, the earning picture is improving, and insider buying has been strong. The 2nd quarter results will be out next month. I expect that they will earn around $0.20 per share up from $0.14 in the 1st quarter. If you annualized the $0.20 per share estimate, you get a PE of ~16 at the present price of $13 per share. I believe that $13 per share is a good value for SMSC considering the growth potential of this company.
