VERY OT

maybe not bigotry, but lineages spark wars and atrocities. Serbia, Darfur, Chechnya, Iraq, and other places have shown that sometimes man has not evolved, particularly where old feuds between tribes or lineages have been repressed.

I read accounts of what the opposing sides in the Chechnya conflict were doing with prisoners. The stories of death by torture were horrendous. It was medieval stuff. Iraq has plenty of examples of this too, using power drills on people, as the Sunnis, Kurds, and Shiites resolved old greivances.

Then there was Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. If you want to read a gruesome account, read "A Cambodian Odyssey" by Hang Ngor, the Academy Award winning actor from The Killing Fields, who lived through all of it including three trips to the prison camps for torture. He survived somehow, came to America and starred in the movie, only to be killed in a robbery in Los Angeles.

America and Western Europe may have evolved, but plenty of places in the world have not.

OK, back to economic trends.
