Some things become private because the government delists the services from the schedule... example eye exams for adults... hearing tests etc... oddly things that are proactive and could prevent higher costs... I've seen a lot of waste in the system from outside and inside.. an I know that there are a lot of things wrong with our system and if you only want to focus on the haves.. private is the way to go... That is the essence of the dilemma. I posted extensively on this topic on the Canadian Political Free for ALL thread years go but have not posted there in over a year... in order to preserve my sanity :O) I used to be crazy but I'm much better now... ;o) The Black Swan EDIT: Don't know if it has changed but France's system was rated quite a bit better than ours a few years back
