Forest management is very unpopular in the Pacific Northwest and has been forced out of business for all practical purposes on federal land.

I don't know about tree huggers, but I think the policy that lets us cut about 1/10th of what we grow every year is very stupid. That will only last for so long, until the growth rate drops dramatically due to overstocking.
