Liberals went out of existence in the 80's. Some like to still call themselves liberals, and it's a very proud and righteous tradition, but most of us have moved on .

The new progressive movement is much more realistic, common sense, functional for every American and forward-looking. We do not want to go back to the old programs which didn't work. We are interested in programs which not only work but fix the huge awful mess the rightwing has made of not only our government but our entire society.

Jesse Venture is right. Bushies have cost us an extra 9 trillion dollars in debt. And it has to be paid for somehow. To do that we need to save huge amounts of money. The best way is to get off oil completely as our #1 fuel source. Off it. That alone would save us enough to eventually pay off the Bush debt.
