Hi michael,

you've been railing on about how unfair it is to tax the rich. Well, I just read a speech Obama gave in the last day or so and he said he wants to roll back the tax cuts for the top 1% and give tax breaks to everyone else.

Information on the top 1% from the NYT article below: The top 1% in 2007 earned $348,000 or more in 2007. Their average pay was $1.1 million. The people in the top 1% number about 300,000 and earned as much as the next 150 million combined. Per person, the top group received 440 times as much as the average person in the bottom half earned, nearly doubling the gap from 1980.

So your whole premise is pretty much washed away. I don't think you will convince anyone on this thread that anyone in the top 1% will suffer that much or feel a disincentive to work if Bush's tax cuts were let to expire for the top 1%. To persist in such arguments will just convince everyone of your ignorance of or your indifference to the plight of 99% of Americans.
