The "team" thing personifies the old politics of the last 30 years that have ended up in such useless, despised gridlock. It isn't about what needs doing and what gets done, it's the Us and Them syndrome where our team needs to win by 51-49% then shove our agenda down the throats of the other guys until they knock us out with a stunning 51-49% reversal and the same old crap goes on forever. It's a proven dysfunctional system that still has tens of millions of eager supporters. Go figure. And if anyone even talks about doing something different it's all words, they aren't tough enough, no substance to it, etc. The dysfunctional do-loop has amazing momentum behind it.
