But you can't crush them. They are not a nation state. They are an ideology.

Tejek

If you don't comprehend that jihad is more than a mere ideology, you simply do not understand the first thing about this subject.

These are not a ragtag group of renegade thugs; they are organized, well-financed, well-trained, well-equipped, and passionate in their beliefs. It is true that America has dealt a huge blow to Al Qaeda since 9/11; but it is also foolish to believe they have been eradicated.

When bin Laden formed the Mujahideen Services Bureau, it was to assemble a group professionals -- engineers, physicians, the like -- who were capable of organizing a large scale effort to conduct the jihad. Just as would any 'nation state'.

I believe this is part of the problem of the left; you are simply unable to envision that a fanatic religious sect is capable of being a serious threat to America. You believe 9/11 was a stroke of 'good luck' on AQ's part. It wasn't.

These organizations are substantial, functioning, and well-managed. Archaic? Of course -- the entire concept behind Islam is to be archaic while killing America and the West. It is the entire point of what they're doing.
