There were five possible theories and we used the mnemonic five Cs Chimpanzee/hunter - from contamination during the killing by hunters Contaminated Needle theory - self explanatory Chat - a contaminated Polio vaccine used in Belgian congo Colonialism theory - poor conditions in the harsh colonial labor camps and Conspiracy theory -the virus mutated in a lab, because of the suddenness of the pandemic The conspiracy theory gradually receded as more data came out and we learned that the virus may have been around since the early 1900s with documented cases in WWII
