That's what I also gleaned.

I did not realize that polygamy seemingly is widepread in the mid-west in view of the Mormon Church having banned the practice a 100 years ago----as the New York Times writer claims.

When Carter was President there was a 'Family Conference' which had as it's ostensible purpose the discussion of problems facing the family----the liberal effort to hear from America.

The Conference was to be held without input by the citizens, by families, at the local level, i.e. state to state and would include professionals only.

Virginians became active and assured that the National Conference would include the public. Hearings were held nationwide.

This resulted in a National Conference Report that supported the traditional definition of a family rather than the intended purpose of conference organizers to redefine the family to include any union such as gay or lesbian.

This year there may be ballots in the general election in some states to redefine a marriage and family.

If we define the family as including a marriage between two men or between two women-----gays and lesbians; then does it not follow that a family that is polygamous in nature should be allowed to exist also?

Just posing the questions----
