I've been trying for a couple of years to work up a panic, but I just can't get the enthusiasm. TJ has announced it a few times, but each time was a fizzer. The 27 Feb [or whenever it was last year] crunch in Shanghai turned into nothing much, though the Shanghai share index has taken a beating. Northern Rock held promise, but has fizzled. The fall in October or thereabouts was interesting, but six months has gone by and we aren't making much headway into catastrophe [overall though the people gone bust would disagree from a personal point of view].

But there are good prospects still. NZ is rolling over into recession. People are realizing that they aren't as rich as they were and that their house prices won't be doubling any time soon and their $100 bn in debts to Japan to "own" their houses are grinding on at double the rental cost for the same houses.
