I keep hearing about the seasonal effects on the gold price but never quite believed it thinking that such a large market would be too efficient (vaguely if not perfectly) for that. Well FWIW I finally did a home-brewed statistical analysis of the last 3 1/2 years and found to my surprise it was indeed true, quite strongly in fact with the year split neatly in two; Aug-Jan (strong period) and Feb-Jul. Statistical details on request.
