PROLIFE, Ana Puente is no longer a kid; she is now 21 years old.

From where I stand, Ms. Puente's immigration status is of secondary concern--even though she was brought to the US of A by her family for the express purpose of obtaining charity medical care which was, apparently, not available to her in her native land.

The fact is that she has failed three--count 'em, three--liver transplants over the course of approximately 21 years. Sadly, there comes a point when medical futility kicks in, and there is no getting around that, no matter what.

Meanwhile, others on the transplant lists are perhaps being denied their first liver transplant because of this woman's insistence that she is entitled to a fourth liver transplant. Unfortunately, California law seems to be on her side.

Even more unfortunately, other people, whose transplants have failed and who have learned of Ms. Puente's crusade, are eagerly poised to jump on the bandwagon.

Additionally, we'd best not lose sight of those who surely will come to this most medically hospitable country because they are in need of their first organ
transplant. - Holly
