If it is not near the whole argument is flawed." if the tipping point is near, those sounding the alarm are not hysterical. nor alarmists. they are perhaps... wise? people sounding the alarm. and if they are wrong, the argument is flawed. you ruin your position by using either the offensive term toward women - hysterical - and the term alarmist. they might be simply people who realize something and are trying to bring it to awareness of others... as in... if you smell smoke, warn the others in the building.
