Hi Paul, since I have not had the chance of looking at the alpha "blue prints" the way Intel did, all I could do is venture an irrelevant guess which I won't. As you are probably aware just reading a patent does not usually give you enough info. to copy it. People are smart enough to leave some critical stuff out. Intel had a chance to look at the guts of the alpha design and that is how they could jump at it. In any event the reason for my reply is to let you know (as promissed) that I covered my short position this morning at 85 5/8. I shorted at 88 11/16 on July 29 so even after the 6.75% margin charge on the borrowed shares, I still was able to make a nice profit.

Next time I trade Intel I will be, as usual, on your side (i.e., long). However, I do not think I will buy until the price is somewhere in the middle 70's AND the DEC issue is out of the way.
