RE: Intel's q3 Report Here is Intel's Q3 earnings report if anyone is interested. intel.com Here are some comments by Supercomputer Steve Chen about the Merced: Steve Chen, now executive vice president and chief technology officer at Sequent Computer, said that Sequent plans to develop systems will multiple processors, around Merced. Chen, a well-known supercomputer designer formerly with Cray Research Inc. and at two of his own firms, said Sequent is targeting the corporate data center with its systems. ''It lets you have an alternative to the mainframe or cooperate with the mainframe,'' Chen said in an interview. biz.yahoo.com It seems to me that Merced, if it meets the promise held forth in this announcement, will be the most significant development in computing since the invention of the microprocessor, parallel processing, and network computing, combining as it will all of these capabilities. I will post a more detailed projection if anyone is interested.
