Something else that is hurting democrats is their strange nomination process of primaries and caucuses divvying up delegates here, there, and everywhere using complicated voting formulas. Republicans use a winner take all system like the electoral college and if Democrats did that, Hillary would be several hundred delegates ahead, but instead Democrats are about to nominate a candidate that would have done poorly in a winner take all system.
