Is this another instance of you getting defensive when a fellow liberal is criticized? Yeah probably. Is this another instance where you are attacking a liberal because he's a liberal? Carter can do whatever he wants, but he's acting as a self-appointed proxy for the State Department. No, he's not. He's acting as a private citizen. Has State endorsed his actions? Worse, foreign parties get the impression that they don't have to deal directly with the State Department. "Just call that guy Carter. He's a nice guy. He'll give us what we want." Oh bull shit.
