Which reminds me, did you try that tax calculator I posted yesterday. I was surprised at how massive a chunk defense consumed. Ouch!

The reason it comes out as such high a chunk is because

1 - It includes defense related costs that aren't part of the defense budget, such as VA costs.

and more importantly

2 - Its only deals with the income tax, since the big social programs get their money through payroll taxes, they show up as a zero here.
