Was anything done to stop Enron and the tech stock bubble in the 90's before they blew up and dragged everyone down with them? Since someone really understood what was going on in advance, as you assert, why not? Where is the track record of closing the barn door before the horse is two counties away? Who was in charge of the SEC at the time, and the whole executive branch and the Justice Dept?

Lots of ex post facto here. Hindsight is a breeze in the markets. Figuring out what to do tomorrow can be a bitch, however.
