Hat tip to Lindy Bill for finding these very interesting observations and opinion. What an election this is! Plots and subplots galore.

DIRTY HARRY: ....Much has happened in the presidential race over the last week and here's the fallout:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows John McCain leading Barack Obama, 47% to 42%. The presumptive Republican nominee also leads Hillary Clinton 50% to 40%. Among unaffiliated voters, McCain leads Obama by eight percentage points and Clinton by fifteen.

Hillary's outright labelling of Obama as an "out of touch elitist" was the single most stunning moment of the campaign thus far, leaving no doubt she's teeing Obama up for a loss against McCain, so she can run again in 2012.

There's no other explanation. Hillary knows who is and isn't voting for her. She already has the Reagan Democrats who cling to their guns and Bibles. Obama has those who look down on those who cling to the guns and Bibles. Hillary's attacks on Obama are useless in moving her numbers against Obama, but helpful in damaging him for the general election.

Hillary's poisoning the well. I think the Clintons are utterly sincere in their belief that Obama is a pipe dream and a disaster in waiting. She's gonna fight to the "bitter" end to make sure he's never President. And she's helping us enormously. The polling news is extremely encouraging. Ed Morrisey points out:

All of these are early numbers, but they portend disaster for the Democrats. Usually Republican candidates tend to poll poorly early and improve as they make their case to the American voters. If McCain has a double-digit lead in Colorado now, and the two Democrats have four more months of slugging it out for the nomination, then they have real problems facing them in a general election.

One of the things that sucks about being a Republican is that it is true … we're always behind until the closing days.
