I saw Obama's answer on Ayers, the bomber, and as much as he danced, it didn't work. If Hillary had been free, as McCain will be, to go after him, it will tear him apart. He looked up Ayers and befriended him. Then tried, on the show, to say he was being besmirched for knowing him.
Hillary zinged him good for serving on the board of the Woods Foundation with Ayers.
I read some comments on the Atlantic's political blog. The Obama-followers are seething at the horrible, horrible job ABC did. They aren't used to tough questions either. Some Dems with a mental age over 25 are trying to tell them that ABC was doing Obama a favor, he needs to innoculate himself and get this stuff out of the way before the Republicans start asking these questions in the general. But young Obama-maniacs are having none of it and are whining long and loud.
I notice that John Pohoretz and a couple of posters on NRO's The Corner had the same amazed reaction I did when Charlie Gibson's question noted that capital gains revenues went up when rates went down. Did Charlie Gibson just turn into Larry Kudlow, they asked? Then Obama answered taht he would raise capital gains taxes anyway to be 'fair'! Gee, great answer there Barack. I'm sure the McCain campaign is collecting the clip of that one.
Now the question is, what will the MSM do? They are stuck with Obama. Hillary couldn't survive as the nominee, and no one else is in sight. So I guess they will spike and coverup what they can, and hope they can push him over the finish line.
Like I've said before, I'm still not sold on the CW of this one. Barack Obama is looking like a mere mortal pol right now, and one with a large number of skeletons in his closet. He's going to have to survive some more of the kind of pummeling that Hillary took in Jan, Feb and March to prove he can campaign in the general.
