MQ, as much of your displeasure about mainland china, I did feel a bit discomfort regarding the disorderly culture inside. The violence of individuals jamming in public bus struggling to breathe thin fresh air is common scene. Exploded in temper and rude, they can easily hit people with fierce fists. HK people are more polite and orderly in public transit. Gangs are still the root in culture, but they generally want to do regular legal business than outright challenge the authorities.

With so many people competing for tight money, not everyone gets the same share. Those who can run a family business would certainly get a head start.

China is not like USA who controls the money printing machine. So the society has had limitation to grow for the last 60 years. The leader of course was watching the come and gone of hot money, in which Japan has taught them the game of capitalism with painful lesson. The mass public rather want stability than changing something in grand revolution. Now that everyone in mainland complaining about man-made manipulation in stock exchange after a big crash - as will be common theme elsewhere. They feel distrust in the global system. So how can we avoid collapse ?
