Hillary, a new hope

The Democratic run for the nomination is a three-part Greek trilogy. Obama was the hero of Part One. But now, in Part Two, I have to say, I’m rooting for Hillary. The lady has put herself through fire and ice to get where she is, and it’s epic to watch her claw and scrape to stay there, or to climb a little higher. The storyteller in me is wanting to make her like Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi: a really bad half-human, half-robot who becomes fully human in the end, although also mortally wounded. Which is, technically, Part Three of another trilogy, which just confuses me. Slate says Clinton won the Philly debate last night, and that she looked more presidential and confident than the exhausted young puppy Obama. Given how hard she’s had to scrape in recent weeks, and how Obama can’t seem to pray her out of the race, it makes them both look a little more human. He, less like a Messiah. Her, less a Monster.
