The mine opened in 1937 and closed in 2001. It was then mined from 2002 to 2003. • Completion of expansion, PCS Rocanville potash mine, Rocanville, Saskatchewan. The expansion began in 2003. • Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan announces major capital projects at it Lanigan, Allan, Cory, and Patience Lake operations. • Breaking of ground for Suncor’s St. Clair ethanol plant, Sarnia-Lambton area, Ontario. • Opening of Syncrude’s Aurora North mine, Fort McMurray area, Alberta. • Announcement of installation of 60 wind turbines at Mount Miller and Mount Copper, Murdochville, Quebec. Through this, Canada’s total wind energy would be increased by 25% to 550 megawatts. • Construction begins, Melancthon Grey Wind Project, in Melancthon and Amaranth Townships, Shelburne County, in southern Ontario. When completed, the 45 turbines would add 67.5 megawatts of additional capacity to Canada’s production of wind energy. • Closing of Golden Giant gold mine, Hemlo area, Ontario. The mine opened in 1985.
