Interesting Mac,

My first hand observation of Chinese traffic was that although incredibly frenetic, everyone seemed to know the rules. We spent quite a bit of time in taxis and a small bus we hired. I can tell you that the patience I witnessed would never have occurred in Toronto.. I was truly amazed... If Torontonians ( and well over 1/2 a million are Chinese in the GTA alone :O) had traffic and driving conditions like I witnessed in China road range would be the leading cause of death... Frankly the folks here could not handle it. The Traffic was very heavy in Beijing and Shanghai.. other places seemed no different than home, Xi'an, Fuzhou, Hangzhou.. The motorized bikes though are another story :O) Those damn silent battery powered bikes and scooters you cannot hear coming .. I've never been to HK yet so I have no experience there.. Been to mainland twice, last summer 2007 and summer 2000.
