Fwiw, this principle worked very well during the entire Cold War. I think they may have borrowed the idea from Charles Krauthammer who wrote about this a few days ago, I believe.


Well, it kept the Russians out of the Fulda Gap. However, it turned the Euros into a bunch of spoiled teenagers wrt defense issues. I don't want to see the same happen to Israel, where it could well be fatal. Israel needs independence of action, and that requires independence of defense.
