"he's not even a loyal citizen and he wants to be President"
_____--

My goodness. If we are going to determine loyalty by whether a person wears a flag pin or stands at respecful attention during the star spangled banner instead of putting his hand over his heart, or dares to express displeasure over actions of government or elected officials, I believe trouble is close at hand.

Bill Clinton wore a flag pin, covered his heart and could talk a blue streak about why his direction for America was best, but I doubt many on this thread think him so great. Many consider his "disloyal" to his office and his oath of office.

I can find photos of Tom Delay without a flag pin and tapes of him ripping up President Clinton, who at the time was Head of State and Head of Government of the USA. Should Tom Delay have his citizenship revoked?

We need to get past the silly season (and I am not saying you are silly, GZ...its the "mood" right now) of whether someone misstates something or fails some litmus test of loyalty and get to the guts of the issues. We have some major domestic and foreign challenges ahead and the next President needs to be chosen on policy and merit, not image. I say this in full recognition that McCain is going to misspeak, misstep and insult some group before this while thing is over, but he deserves a break when that time comes too.
