speaking of straw man arguments we should start a list. then we could point by point pick apart why conservatives or republicans should consider counter arguments. What I've noticed is people will have different ideas about how government and the world works, so not all arguments can be effective. Trying to argue medical benefits with someone who refuses to believe that there is a not a real or perceived medical value is not the right strategy IMO. A better one is to relate to his own situation and try to find some common ground. this is what i attempted to do with GZ...we'll see if he even replies.

The hardest thing to combat seems to be apathy. Especially if they have never had any health problems. Most people don't give a shit if some "pot head" goes to jail. f'k 'em. why should they care?! This is the attitude that probably gets to me the most.
