"Bob, I have a question for you.

After 25 years of the rise to dominance of conservatism starting with the Reagan Revolution, what do we as a country have to show for it?

Are we better off as a country than we were then?

I'm including the health of the treasury in that question, and I'm just curious how you see it. "

First, the lack of fiscal responsibility by the Republicans who went to Washington is a disgrace. Add that to the lack of moral discipline and the disgrace builds. Throw in an unpaid for war and we have a party in disrespect.

I think the failure was spending. I think the tax policies, trade policies, and regulatory policies were correct - but not with runaway spending. Runaway spending wrecked everything. Oh yeah - failure to control the border is more idiocy.

The issue that I am also critical of is health care. I do not believe market policies can solve this problem. Health care is to expensive for people to handle on their own.

So - my sense is that true Republican principles were not tried. None-the-less, I feel a fullup Democratic government will be ruinous.

Bob
