Kazakhstan 1Q Copper, Zinc Lead Output Down; Alumina Up

MOSCOW, Apr 18, 2008 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- -- Kazakhstan produced 88,449 metric tons of refined copper in the first quarter, a fall of 17.2% on the year, the State Statistics Agency reported Friday.

Zinc output fell during the period by 2.5% to 92,035 tons. The production of zinc in concentrate fell by 4.2% to 89,800 tons.

The production of lead in concentrate fell by 19.2% to 9,700 tons.

Alumina output increased by 10.1% on the year to 415,895 tons.

Gold output increased by 4.6% to 1.978 tons and silver output fell by 14.2% to 155,733 tons.
