I would be arguing that who was president at the time that the debt is at a particular level does not inform in any useful way the question of who gets the credit or blame for the state of the treasury.

I would agree with you on this. That's why I'm focused on the 25 year period. That's definitely long enough in my book. It covers good times and bad, emergencies, recessions,etc. It's plenty of time to see if tax policies will either kick in new business revenues or bleed the Treasury.

To say that 'things are unfinished' or conservatism is yet to be applied is really kind of sad, don't you think?
