Taiwan ePassport contract
CryptoMetrics Awarded Contract for Taiwan Bureau of Consular Services e-Passport Project Tuckahoe, New York, February 15, 2008 – CryptoMetrics, a leading global provider of biometric solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to provide face recognition products and services for the Taiwan Bureau of Consular Services ePassport project.
CryptoMetrics' facial recognition solutions are designed to address pressing security issues and requirements associated with the issuance of travel and identification documents, inspection and confirmation of an individual s identity before seeking entry into a country at airports, seaports and border points, as well as gaining access to critical facilities. CryptoMetrics technology is part of a comprehensive system to be deployed by the Taiwanese Government to enhance security in its passport issuance and clearance processes.
CryptoMetrics, working closely with prime contractor Hewlett Packard, is providing its VisPro!" and VisMatch!" software, which will be utilized to confirm the identity of passport applicants. These biometric solutions capture facial images and processes them for matching against a watchlist database of known persons who pose potential national security threats.
CryptoMetrics software will also be used for processing original applicant-submitted photographs to produce quality images suitable for face recognition and to meet International Civil Aviation Organization standards. Meeting these standards will ensure that ePassports of Taiwanese citizens will be accepted world-wide.
Overall system integration with Taiwan's existing e-Passport security infrastructure will be implemented by Hewlett Packard with support from CryptoMetrics.
Robert Barra, co-CEO of CryptoMetrics, said, "This contract demonstrates the continued value that CryptoMetrics' world class family of SecurIDent!" face recognition products brings to integration partners globally. As governments throughout the world implement their conversion to the ePassport, we look forward to providing technology that plays a crucial role in ensuring that these systems operate at the highest level possible."
