I don't believe the state intends for this to be permanent at all. The women, however, will probably be required to give up any semblance of FLDS lifestyle and prove that they can provide a healthy environment for the children before regaining custody.

I still maintain that there is a difference between polygamy and the forced marrying of minors. By defending family and maternal rights, you aren't defending polygamy in any way, JDN. And you're absolutely right about the trauma to these kids.
The state has been nothing if not heavyhanded in their actions here. The situation has gone on for years-- why it had to be corrected in a day, and in such a drastic way, who knows.
That does NOT mean I don't place the blame mostly on the sect itself, only that I think we have a correct action being used to accomplish a whole lot more than JUST protecting teen girls.
