As I'm sure many are now aware, lots of trading of VRB on Friday, April 18th...up over 35% and, importantly, on very big volume.

There's been no "official" news to move this stock, but my take is that when any stock trades over 3.6 million shares -- when it 3 month vol. average is just 295,163 -- significant buyers want "in".

The only news out there was another Jon Hykawy (Research Capital) appearance yesterday on BNN:

Green' Investing [04-18-08 10:35 AM]
Some handy hints to 'green-up' your portfolio ahead of Earth Day. BNN talks to Jonathan Hykawy, technology and hardware analyst, Research Capital.

Like last Jan, Hykawy again has VRB is top pick. He did throw out one new big name, "Sprint", who he "believed" is now a buyer for its telcom backup facilities.

Combine that fact with his March research note where he says that VRB batteries can do more than just provide the US mandated 3 hours of requirement backup power. In many areas, like where they just sold the California battery, with more storage capabilities (say 9 hours) a VRB battery can arbitrage a telcom's expenses by buying "cheap" power at night and use that during the day.

He also added that he thought the Irish "political" problems of Tapbury should see a solution soon.

In Jan., he also had VRB as his top pick but that interview did not put any fire under the stock.

The next couple of weeks could get interesting. Again, such strong up tick on huge volume is very suggestive. More so in today's very depressed Canadian "junior' market were caution is the watch word.

Is something "afoot"?
