Of course, they did repeat the whole thing about 578 times a day for a week first. Hardly "smoothed out" unless you think sheer repetition eventually just numbed everyone to it, which is possible. This is what I mean about not pointing fingers at the press all the time. But Dale, the fact that they did repeat the whole thing about 578 times a day for a week is EXACTLY the reason to point a finger at the press. They tried desperately to make this a big deal by blowing it up waaaaaaay out of proportion. The only reason they've finally backed down is because, as you pointed out, Joe Citizen has seen through the s**tstorm and knows it was all hot air. The press may not have an agenda but they certainly have a frame.
