The ability to recoup the cost of buying a hybrid for personal use has been widely challenged.

It's difficult to say with all the politics involved. If you drive 25K per year, I don't think so. In a perfect world, where Government subsidies weren't involved, we would know.

In LA, where "Hybrid" gets you single diamond lane access, it's a big boon to the Taxis when the driver is alone and needs to get to the airport, etc.
