My, a few people here seem nervous about the results. I'm not praying for a merger or anything like that. I just want to see the company keep executing better.

Cooking the books: That's what they did a year ago to show the profit. Sales were surprisingly good which put them in reach of a profit. Therefore, they put off some charges they were planning to take and eked out that profit. The stock took off, Amelio and cronies got their outsize bonuses for returning Apple to profitability, and then the Performas sank Apple at Christmas. Companies always have this option to cook a bit, whether holding off paying suppliers an extra few weeks or stuffing the channel.

I more than doubled up on my core AAPL position yesterday. It's looking good. We're back to 24 1/16.
