I was thinking of my town when I said that- which as far as I know has had no incidents like that- I think when you venture in to the big cities the wrong doing can be heinous- like that young man killed at the bachelor party (am I remembering the right event?) That's not to say there isn't black on white violence, I'd never say that- but the violence against blacks is often directed at them from the official power structure (like the police) which makes it especially hard to fight, and especially insidious- and it's also very difficult to prove wrongdoing when the very men who should be investigating a crime are involved in it.

Your story is such a sad one, but not uncommon.
