I'm not saying "we've won", only the the "big military" seems to be using an appropriate counter-insurgency strategy.

We are doing what we did in Nam. I get no warm fuzzies from that.

Successful terrorist strikes against important and vulnerable targets like the Green Zone, reminds me of the impact of the 1969 sapper suicide attack on the American evacuation hospital in Cam Ranh Bay.

America is learning an old lesson.
Technology and tactics are not always superior to better strategy and tactics.

We had both the technology and tactical advantage in Vietnam (sufficient to win every major battle) but lost the war to a superior strategy and lower level tactic.

We have won some areas in Iraq and Afghan 2 or 3 times (Is that a real win?) only to have them fall back into the wrong hands. I still say, the jury is still out on who wins these wars.
