I've heard that MANY limos showed up at GTE Headquarter
building in Stamford, CT. today. A special board meeting has been called. And the SPECULATION is:

1) GTE is buying/merging with MCI
2) BT/MCI is making an offer to merge with GTE
3) AT&T is making an offer to merge GTE
4) There could be a major announcement involving GTE tomorrow.

This is something very interesting. GTE stock had unusual activity right before the close:

Short term this sucks. Long term we'll see. MCI is a lot of company to merge with but GTE can do it.

Gotta' love this telecom environment.
