Another good Balz column. I discovered David Broder in 1992, during the presidential election. He was absolutely superb at diagnosing little known corners. And on the Sunday before the election produced a guide to the electoral college votes that was right on. We used it to watch the returns that Tuesday.

But Broder is well past his prime. Well past. Balz seems to me now to do the same thing. Get the nuances right as he paints the big picture. That's definitely not easy.
