"Insurance is about pooling the risk of unlikely bad events."

Contracting and paying for check ups and other preventative care is not paying for unlikely bad events. I am simply saying that the concept of insurance (or just the label) encompasses more things than just payouts in the case of bad events.

Progressive income tax good. Regressive tax bad. Hedge fund managers paying at 15% bad. Let's fix SS by simply getting rid of the income cap. That solves SS and we can move on.

Buffet pays a lower tax rate than his secretary does. There are ways to get the tax code working for you if you make enough.

I'm going to get a hankie and cry for Bill Gates and Big Dick Cheney having to pay their fair share of the SS tax. Boo-hoo.
The biggest hedge fund manager made the same last year as 81,000 average American families. I will bet a good chunk of his multibillion payday will be at the 15% rate.

I'm sure that keeping the tax rates for the average billionaire makes more of a difference than cutting the taxes for the average working family (and having them put that immediately into the economy) will have for the economy. Again, let's review freshman economics.

You said the cost of entitlements are spiraling out of control. I believe that was when I asked (again) how much is too much? Give me a number, a percentage, a ballpark because it just sounds like indistinct grumbling.
