Costco went to the trouble to inform television news that they are building up their rice stocks in California stores to meet increased purchases of bulk rice. The California Rice Growers Association also commented that there is no shortage of rice in the United States, there is plenty to meet increased demand. This reminds me of the "oil crisis" during 1978-1981. When I went to visit my parents I discovered my Dad had three 55 gallon drums of gasoline in the backyard with a hand pump. He also hoarded silver dollars during the Hunt brothers "silver shortage". I'm more convinced this is all a bunch of nonsense exacerbated by George Bush's ethanol subsidies. Very much like his "ownership society" which led to the current real estate collapse. What a screw-up. .
