His people are watching her tactics, seeing what sticks and what doesn't, preparing their focus groups, and will be refining her attacks for the summer and next fall. McCain himself will be "oblivious" to it all. "My friends," he will say, "we must have a higher sort of politics, there is nothing we can't do, no challenge we can't meet, if we work together."
