Mob psychology plays a role, but there are fundamental factors at work also: iht.com Crop failures notwithstanding, I agree much of this is self-inflicted. Among them, Bush's ethanol give-away to farmers will go down as one of his dumbest decisions (which is saying something, as Bush has made so many dumb decisions from which to choose).
